KMOM Dodge City Provides 822 Patients with $1,022,789 in Donated Dental Care
The Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation (KDCF) hosted its annual free dental clinic, the Kansas Mission of Mercy (KMOM), at the Western State Bank Expo Center on February 7-8, 2020.
At 5:30 AM on both Friday and Saturday, patients entered the registration area, where they filled out a brief health history form before being filed into medical and dental triage.
Each patient also received a panoramic X-ray before being escorted to the waiting area, where they were called to various areas of the clinic to receive cleanings, fillings, extractions, or other necessary services.
By the end of the day on Saturday, volunteer dental professionals had provided 822 patients with $1,022,789 in donated care; including 1,792 extractions and 876 fillings. 126 of the patients were children.
KDCF would like to thank the donors and volunteers from all over the state of Kansas who helped make this mission a success; as well as a special thanks to KMOM Dodge City co-chairs, Dr. Shawna Harris and Dr. Logan Morse; the local arrangements committee, and Western State Bank Expo Center for all the hard work in organizing and implementing this event.

30,000th Patient
KDCF held its first annual KMOM project in Garden City in 2003. Since then, over 30,000 patients have received donated dental care through 19 KMOM events in various cities across Kansas.
We followed the journey of our 30,000th patient, Paul, at KMOM Dodge City on February 7. Paul went through patient registration, medical and dental triage, X-ray, numbing, oral surgery, and finally patient check-out.
As a way to celebrate this milestone, KDCF gifted Paul with an electric toothbrush kit and $30 gift card to Walmart. Check out our Facebook Live video to see the gift presentation!
