About the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation
The Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation (KDCF) was established in 2002, from a grant from the Kansas Dental Association Relief Fund. Our mission is to provide funding and resources to improve oral health in the state of Kansas. Since our inception, we have provided $100,000 in grants targeted to small, community-based projects that focus on collaboration between community organizations.
Each year, dentists in Kansas donate approximately $50,000 to our annual campaign, which we use to grow the KDCF Endowment, a fund which now exceeds $300,000. The income generated from that trust, as well as other restricted gifts, are used to fund grants and scholarships to improve dental access in Kansas.
Additionally, the KDCF has donated more than $19 million in dental care through its signature event, the Kansas Mission of Mercy (KMOM). The Kansas Mission of Mercy (KMOM) is a two-day free dental clinic hosted once a year in different areas of the state. To date, over 30,000 patients have been served thanks to the generous contributions of Kansas dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants.
We provide cleanings, fillings and extractions to both children and adults, and our volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, and assistants do this at no charge. We donate our care to 1,000-2,000 patients during the two-day event, many who will wait in line overnight for much needed dental care.
